Third Destination Unknown Campaign Assembly, Nicosia, Cyprus

DUCA 2016: 27 to 29 September 2016

From Geneva (Sep. 2013) to Marrakech (Mar. 2015) and now Nicosia (Sep. 2016)

“Hope For Children” CRC Policy Center, a regional partner Organization of the Destination Unknown Campaign in Europe, is hostingthe 3rd Destination Unknown Campaign Assembly in Nicosia, Cyprus in cooperation with the International Federation “Terre des Hommes”.

A lot has happened since the members of the campaign met in the former imperial city in western Morocco… In the heart of the news, the migrant and refugee crisis of the Euro-Mediterranean region is leading us now to gather all in Cyprus. From Ecuador to Cambodia, passing through The Hague or Maputo, many important events have happened as well in the ten regions of the world in which the Destination Unknown is implementing projects with more than hundred partners!

In Marrakech, the Campaign Assembly offered, 39 participants including 5 youth coming from 24 countries and 20 Organisations, a platform to discuss some of the most pressing challenges around the rights of children on the move and to monitor the Destination Unknown Campaign.

This year more than 40 participants form 22 different countries, including EU members and 3rd countries will be present. Based on the lessons learned of the capitalisation process, the members of the DUCA will work together on the next phase mid-2017 – 2020 through different forms of consultations, guided by DU Working Group and consultants. Being inspired by Youth leaders and learning from each other through a “market place” and field visits, participants to the DU Campaign Assembly will set the building blocks for the next phase of the DU Campaign (July 2017 to 2020).

At the same time a satellite meeting of GFMD (Global Forum on Migration and Development) will take place, focused on the Children on the Move and Other Children Affected by Migration.
