There are persons and entities that continuously engage in remarkable actions in the field of children’s rights, but their effort and loyalty is not always recognized and appreciated. For this reason, Hope for Children CRC Policy Center, has established the Children’s Rights Defender Award. This award refers to an individual or entity which through their actions have promoted Children’s rights in their community or further.
As an Organization, we value the importance of highlighting and rewarding such actions and at the same time encouraging others to follow this example. Taking this into consideration, Hope For Children has chosen to award Mr Bragi Gudbrandsson for his outstanding contributions to the rights of children not only on a local but also European level. The President of the Republic of Cyprus, Mr. Nicos Anastasiades, in the presence of Mr. Joseph Borghese, Director-General of HFC, handed over the award to Mr. Gudbrandsson congratulating him for his remarkable work in defending the rights of the children.

He is the Former Director General of the Icelandic Government Agency for Child Protection in Iceland as well as a leading Expert on the Council of the Baltic Sea States Promise project for implementing the Barnahus (the Children’s House) model, a friendly and multidisciplinary response to child abuse in around twenty European countries.
